In the southeast of Mexico, a highway has been inaugurated that stands out for its complexity and impressive dimensions. With 65 bridges, 14 viaducts, 9 tunnels, and 20 junctions, this 169.2-kilometer highway connects the Port of Salina Cruz with the City of Oaxaca. Its main objective is to improve the region's infrastructure and facilitate integration with the rest of the country, which is expected to significantly boost the local economy.
The significant reduction in travel time, from up to 6 or 8 hours to only 2.5 hours on average, will bring a decrease in transportation costs in the region, as well as activate local businesses. Additionally, this highway connects with the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, creating an important cargo corridor that goes from Tapachula to Puebla and Mexico City.
On the other hand, in the Mexican pharmaceutical sector, the new board of directors of the Mexican Association of Pharmaceutical Research Industries (AMIIF), chaired by Julio Ordaz of AstraZeneca, is focused on building a resilient health ecosystem. His re-election for a second year in charge provides continuity to the work done so far and underscores the importance of teamwork in all areas of the industry.
In the financial sector, significant changes are anticipated due to the executive order from the President of the United States, Donald Trump, which could designate certain groups as terrorist organizations. This measure would impact the Mexican financial system, forcing institutions to raise their levels of surveillance and adapt to new requirements, which could result in stricter controls and greater challenges in accurately identifying their clients.
Additionally, a change in the presidency of COPARMEX is announced, where Juan José Sierra Álvarez will take office with the aim of strengthening SMEs, promoting the inclusion of young entrepreneurs in the business sector, and fostering equitable and sustainable economic development. His motto "One COPARMEX, One Mexico" reflects the call for unity and joint work to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector.
